Meet Laura – Managing Director of Elgar Care

Laura founded of Elgar Care in 2016, Laura wanted to make a real difference within care after her grandad received care. With over 13 years experience within the care sector it was time to have a local care company that truly made a difference to clients lives and a happy work/life balance for care staff that truly are appreciated.

At Elgar Care, our vision has always been simple — to provide high-quality, compassionate care that truly makes a difference to people’s lives.

As a locally founded, independent provider based in Hereford, we are proud to support individuals within our community to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. At Elgar Care you will find Laura overseeing the leadership, direction and success of the company. Supporting the managers, setting the standards and vision of Elgar Care.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family taking her children to clubs, watching a football match or two and watering her garden.

Meet Lisa – Finance Manager/ social media and marketing Manager

Lisa plays a key role in the day-to-day running of Elgar Care, covering both the financial and operational aspects of the business.

Working closely with the management team, Lisa oversees financial processes, ensuring invoices, payroll , payments and budgets are managed accurately and efficiently. Alongside this, she supports the general running of the service, helping to ensure everything operates smoothly. She also manages all of our social media platforms, marketing and website.

With a strong background in health and social care and 16 years experience with a Health and Social care degree , and a nursing degree Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into her role. Lisa is passionate about maintaining high standards and supporting the team. Lisa has been with us for 10 years this year and attended our very first induction.

What does outstanding care look like to Lisa?

Outstanding care means supporting people to live independently in their own homes, providing choice, with care that is tailored, flexible and delivered with compassion.

Outside of work, Lisa is a busy parent to Five children three that have Type 1 diabetes, which has given her a deeper understanding of managing complex health needs and the importance of resilience, organisation and compassion in everyday life. She loves holidays, the gym, sewing and baking in her free time and raising money for our local charity of the year.

Meet Tracey- Registered Manager

Tracey is our registered manager and is responsible for the management and quality of a care service. She ensures that care is delivered safely, effectively and in line with regulations.

With an amazing 22 years of experience Tracey bring a wealth of knowledge to Elgar Care, holds a level 5 qualification in Health and Social care. Tracey believes when a team feels supported, confident and valued and staff are empowered, they deliver the highest standard of care to those they support. Tracey is an incredibly supportive manager and her compassion and empathy shines through. Tracey has been with us for 9 years at Elgar Care and she throughly enjoys team work and our values. Tracey is immensely proud of her team.

What does outstanding care look like to Tracey?

Going beyond the basic tasks and truly understand each client as an individual, ensuring they feel safe and valued. Delivering all care with compassion, maintaining high standards and always looking to improve.

In her free time Tracey enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym/spa, attending church / The Living Hope charity and trips away in her campervan. She also enjoys raising money for local charity’s and loves to visit beaches.

Meet Simon- Head of client team

Simon is the Head of our Client Team and plays a key role in ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible for our clients and their families.

He carries out assessments, understands individual needs, and works behind the scenes to ensure everything is in place before care begins — helping to create a seamless and supportive experience for every person we support.

Simon brings a wealth of knowledge, with over 26 years of experience in the care sector. He is a highly valued member of the Elgar Care team and has been with us for 9 years, contributing significantly to the quality and consistency of our service.

His dedication and professionalism have also been recognised through a number of awards. Simon has won two regional awards at the Great British Care Awards:

He has also been recognised nationally as a finalist for the Care Assessor/Planner Award, as well as a finalist for the Joy Maker Award.

Simon’s experience, leadership and commitment make him an integral part of Elgar Care.

Simon enjoys working for Elgar Care because he enjoys meeting new people and building relationships and being able to provide support at a time when it really matters.

What does outstanding care look like to Simon?

Outstanding care is listening to the persons needs and taking the time to understand the likes and routines, allowing people to care for themselves where possible and supporting with what the individual cant do and recognising independence promoting self-esteem and positive thinking.

Outside of work Simon enjoys gardening and decorating his home for the different seasons of the year.

Meet Marg- Client Manager

Over The last 8 years Marg’s role has grown within Elgar Care, progressing from a hands on Carer out in the field, to becoming both a client manager and an on-call manager. She was originally approached by the director to support and manage the care staff, but her role has naturally evolved into working closely with our clients which is where Marg’s true passion lies. She still enjoys visiting the clients in their own homes, providing care and taking the time to listen to the wide variety of stories they share. She is deeply committed to her role and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every individual receives the highest standard of care in the comfort of their own home.

What does outstanding care look like to Marg?

Taking time to listen to the clients while delivering a high standard of care.

Outside of work, Marg enjoys spending time in her garden and cherishes every moment spend with her four grandchildren.

Meet Sophie- Head of carer team

Sophie is our head of carer team and plays a vital role in supporting our carers in their roles. Sophie is a caring, supportive and always available to offer guidance to the team. With over 10 years experience in care including more than 7 years with Elgar Care, Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to her role. She is currently completing a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology, further developing her skills and insight.

Sophie says she enjoys working at Elgar Care because of the strong, supportive team environment, where colleagues are there for each other both professionally and personally. Her favourite part of the role is supporting staff on their learning journeys and watching them grow and flourish.

What does outstanding care look like to Sophie?

Person- centred with attention to detail, good communication and promoting independence. Ensuring dignity and respect are up held at all times.

When Sophie isn’t looking after our care staff she is enjoying spending her time with her two mischievous bunnies Rosie and poppy who both like to keep her on her toes, crocheting and spending time with her nephews- Lewis, Tommie and Alfie.

Meet Alexis – Care Manager

Alexis is our Care Manager and has been part of the Elgar Care journey for many years. She first joined us as a carer not long after we opened, before gaining further experience elsewhere and returning as a Client Manager. She has now been back with us for 4 years.

Last year, Alexis moved over to the carer team and has truly flourished in her role. She has recently completed her Level 2 in Health and Social Care, continuing to develop her knowledge and skills.

Alexis is a real ray of sunshine within the team. She is incredibly supportive to our care staff and brings a positive energy to the workplace, always brightening the day with her infectious laugh. Alexis enjoys working with us all at Elgar Care as she enjoys helping all types of people.

What does outstanding care look like to Alexis?

Outstanding care is respectful and person- centred. It is care that is safe, reliable, caring and continuously improving in all aspects. Keeping independence and quality of life as much as they can for as long as possible.

Outside of work Alexis plays netball, enjoys going on the sun-bed, and on the farm with the sheep, calves and highland cows.

Meet Sam Care Manager / on-call manager

Sam started with us over 9 years ago as a member of care staff since then she has become our on- call manager and more recently she has taken on the role of care manager supporting the care managers which has strengthened her leadership skills and allowed her to have an even greater impact across the team. Over the years Sam’s passion and dedication has only grown stronger, shaping how she responds to challenges and she always ensures she gives her best.

Sam takes real pride in her roles, it has become much more than a job- it’s a commitment.

What does outstanding care look like to Sam?

For Sam ititss about being there when people need support the most, staying calm under pressure, and making sure both staff and those in our care feel safe, supported and valued at all times.

Outside of work Sam’s world revolves around her four children, where she truly switches off and enjoys life’s meaningful moments- whether that’s heading out on unplanned days out, creating memories on spontaneous holidays or proudly watching her two eldest children following their dreams on the rugby and football pitches, whilst her two youngest keep her constantly on her toes. Those moments remind Sam why she works so hard to help maintain a strong balance between the demands of her role and joy of family life.

Meet Maddie – Office Manager

Maddie is our office manager and she takes care of all our office needs. From filing to post Maddie covers its all.

Maddie has been with us from the very beginning and has been a valued member of our team for 10 years.

Maddie enjoys working at Elgar Care because everyday is different, the team are helpful and friendly. Maddie loves the dedication off the carers and staff.

What does outstanding care look like to Maddie?

Compassionate care and someone who will listen to the clients and have respect.

Outside of work Maddie enjoys going on holidays, spending time with her family and friends. She loves spending time in her garden, baking cakes and sewing.
